Friday Favorites - the best of May 2017

What a month May 2017 was!!!  If I *had* to pick a Picture of the Month it would be this:
A graduate, three more to go, and I don't think I have a *single* picture of the dog in a group picture.
But then there is this:
Thomas, Frederick, Margaret, Marie - camp 2017
CAMP!!!  We were there as a family mid-month for their 75th celebration and I just got home from there again yesterday because I was doing some work during training week, which is happening now.  The three older ones are there for the summer. . .Thomas is a counselor, Marie a junior counselor, and Margaret a CIT (counselor-in-training).  Frederick leaves to go -- as a camper -- next Sunday.  We LOVE CLC.  This was a Picture-of-the-Day Wednesday night, as the counselors and jr. counselors were worshiping together by the pool.

They have quite a crew serving this year. . .two years ago I had the idea to do biographies on each of the counselors and last year decided hang them on the wall of the dining hall so parents can know who they are leaving their 8-14-year-old children with for a week.  The project turned out great (it was my June 3rd Picture of the Day in this post) and now is tradition.  Our neighbors went with me since it was just a 24-hour trip and got to experience "camp" a little bit.  This place is my kids' home-away-from-home and Tommy & Barbara wanted to see/know what was so special about it.  I think they understand now :)

This, for sure, would be my Picture of the Week this week:
Tennessee legal!

We went on Tuesday (since 1- her birthday was Sunday and Monday was a holiday and 2-her dad and I were out of town -- I know! -- on her birthday) to get her permit.  Since everyone has asked -- she scored a 22/24 and has 20/40 vision.  Details, details.

Later that day I let her drive a "road" a few times around our health/fitness complex (I think it's about 1/2-mile around) and then we picked Tom up from work and he let her drive home.  I can't believe that Marie just got her license in October and we are already putting another one behind the wheel!!

Margaret's other "big" gift was getting her second piercing in her ears:

While we weren't at home to celebrate our younger daughter's 15th birthday, we were in Memphis celebrating a STATE WIN for our older daughter's soccer team!
We had a great weekend trip with her and one of her girlfriends and the other three got to stay home with Nana, Grandpa Fred, and Aunt Kathy :)

This scholar ended the school year with awards galore!!  He made (yes, MADE) pens for all of his teachers with help from our dear neighbors.  Unfortunately, the pictures of the pens were lost along with the first half of graduation day (still - ugh!!!) but this post detailed some of the process.

He had a 1/2-day his last day of middle school then spent the afternoon with two of his good friends -- going out to eat together, swimming at our neighborhood pool, and seeing a movie.  Bring on summer!!  We get out early (usually a week before Memorial Day) but we start early -- usually the first week of August.  Plus a week fall break and spring break.  Now. . .to register for high school. . .wow.

I finished Thomas's graduation collage (here it is photographed in two sections because I don't have a wide-angle lens) -- covering and framing it will be a summer project.

I printed 630 pictures. . .and have about 500 left over -- ha!  Frederick picked some of his favorites of just him and Thomas and hung them on his bedroom wall:
There were SO MANY overall to choose from!!

These two came home Saturday morning from Police Camp at Cedar Lake (the police department in the city CLC is in hosts this every year for 5th-7th graders) and they were exhausted!!  They still have five weeks of hosting overnight campers to go :)

Our deck was (finally) completed in May. . .

This one got dressed up (!!!) to take Marla to dinner before Marla attended an American prom at their school. . .(Daddy putting a necklace on her -- she was not going to allow Margaret or me to do her hair or make-up though)

And the month started with a 2nd-place finish
in another out-of-town tournament.  She and K have been playing together since U12. . .it's been fun to watch them grow up on the soccer pitches together.

Thankful there was still time in our days for "ordinary" things like basketball in the driveway.
Here's looking forward to June. . .hoping to complete LOTS of projects :)

Happy Summer!!!

Love,
Jenni

  1. I just discovered your blog from Friday Favorites linkup. Love it. Definitely in a similar parenting stage right now. I love that graduation collage. I think I might bookmark that for next year!
