Each year my younger daughter and youngest niece get together to shop - used to be for "back to school" but only one is still in school so, for my daughter, it was "new work clothes" (and grown-up money to spend!).
Anyway, she mentioned to my sister awhile back that we should make it a "girl's weekend" and an idea/trip was born :)
Head over to their blogs to see what they/their families are up to and, if you have a blog too, consider joining in :)
When asked where they wanted to have this girls' weekend they said, "Cincinnati". . .my sister and I were surprised - we were thinking of going somewhere (my sis and niece live in Cinci) but since the main idea was "shopping" and there is lots of great shopping there - as well as incredible hosts - that was our destination.
First stop, dinner at
Jodi and I went outside for a picture afterwards - looks like it was hazy or the camera lens was smudged. . .
We walked a couple blocks down to Smale park to see Teddy Swims. TBH most of us TN peeps did a bit of a "cram" session on his stuff on our drive up - of course as we listened we recognized many of the tracks but he's not our usual genre.
WHAT A GREAT CONCERT!!! Seriously, I told my sister later that this is a case of enjoying the music live so much more than the more mellow vibe of his recorded stuff.
Sienna Spiro opened for him - she was really good!It was a long night - I think we pulled into her driveway at midnight. So.much.fun to all be together for sure!!
Saturday morning Jodi and I took the dogs out, then it was time to wake those that weren't up yet and make plans for the day.
I had some bags made for us to either take to the pool (never made it) or just plain use for anticipated hauls downtown or at the mall.
We didn't make all the destinations we had hoped, but we did walk our legs off!
First stop, Lebanon, OH
We picked up drinks at Lot 1
And started our shopping there. I didn't take many pictures - boo. Luckily I found this one from one of the shops - fun to have girls that like to pose :)I think almost everyone picked something up - Ellie bought some dishes, I bought some new glasses for Friday night cocktails, Jodi some home decor. . .explored some newer shops - it was fun. Then, off to the mall!!
I was terrible with pictures this weekend - glad we had that shared album to get some of these :)
This was such a fabulous weekend - LOVED that the girlfriends wanted to spend a summer weekend with these Foster girls and their girls.
Again, not many pictures.- here is one I got off our shared album from lunch (Anna & Rachel)
We were very spoiled - we got home, Rachel got some love from 18-yr-old Charlie Brown, and then Brian made a fabulous dinner for us!!
He ate at the "cook's counter" - ha! There WAS room at the table for him but too.many.women - ha! My mom came over too :)We were very spoiled - we got home, Rachel got some love from 18-yr-old Charlie Brown, and then Brian made a fabulous dinner for us!!

Sunday morning we all went to church together. Last weekend I got a picture from Jodi of her and my boys so this weekend I wanted one of her and my girls:
And here we are all together one more time:
We hit up DLM afterwards - had to show our favorite grocery store off and Ellie bought some goodies for Robert :)
I hope this might become another annual tradition - we missed Anna but as all these girls are learning, "adulting" means having to make hard choices sometimes - there's only so much time during this season of life.My girls and I did go over to my mom's before we left to spend a bit of time and did remember a picture, but only one for her digital frame - not for the blog. Wish we would have remembered the night before when we were all together at dinner. Oh well, Lord willing we'll have another occasion to be together again this year!
This weekend is teeing up to be as full as last weekend - we'll see. We have plans to celebrate one of our traveling buddy's birthday in Chattanooga and our boys (and girlfriends) have said they might be able to make that. These summer weekends are flying!!
Love,
Jenni
Awesome recap Jenni- such a great weekend. We have some amazing ladies in our family! One correction- Charlie Brown is 18!!
ReplyDeleteGosh, he is a miracle!!! I fixed it :)
DeleteHow fun! My daughter went to church in Kenwood when they lived in Cincy. I love the city and think it's a great family town with so much to do. Course having them live here near us tops that, but it's a fun place to visit. Mine both have littles currently but hoping in a couple of years we can do a girls trip with my sisters. I am hosting a sorority reunion on the lake in August and am excited for that weekend with some of my college friends. Hubs will act as cabana boy : ) He knows all the girls so loves seeing them too. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteJoyce, I know as often as we read and comment on one another's blogs we seem to have SO much in common (except for the living abroad part. . .). You are living my future (I hope!!) right now on the lake :). Your reunion will be fun - I always appreciate my husband and brother-in-law for being such great hosts on our weekends. We'll do a family lake trip later this summer and my hubby will make sure all food is grilled, boats are gassed up and captained. . .he's really the BEST.
DeleteWhat a fun girls weekend! Hopefully it will keep on being a fun tradition. 18 is so old for a dog...he looks great!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun getaway! I love those bags you had made- so adorable! Downtown Lebanon is a great destination. I have not been to the downtown area in a while but need to change that. And it's hard to beat Kenwood for shopping! Lots of great options there. Your hosts sound awesome as well. I hope a new tradition is born. I'm sure it was hard to coordinate a good weekend but if you come back up this way, consider that the first week or weekend in Ohio is tax free shopping. We've made it a tradition to shop till we drop (if only digitally!) during the tax free days. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend!! It looks and sounds like you all had the best time. How cool you got to see Teddy Swims, I do love him!
