Prayer Warriors

My children have such tender hearts, especially when hearing of someone who needs prayers -- they are ON it!  They will pray in such closeness with the Lord that I know I can learn from them.  And they never forget to pray for someone.

Their Aunt Jan (not really, but, in blended families "aunt" and "uncle" are simple enough relationships to understand) has been fighting lymphoma for almost a year now.  She did well through the holidays and into the new year but now the lymphoma is in her liver so it's back to chemotherapy.

Last week we bought her a t-shirt and washed it.  All week they have been on the look-out for verses to add to her t-shirt, in their own hands.

These are the finished results (also picture of the day for me!).  Frederick also suggested that fighting cancer "is probably really expensive" so he asked if maybe instead of giving their tithes to church could they please send it to Aunt Jan instead "because she could probably use the money".  The discussion at the dinner table was if Jesus would mind if we gave the money to her instead of Him.  We assured the children that Jesus would very much want that.  The quarters they give each week seem like a lot of money to them. . .they gave me a pile of change and we turned it in for a gift card. . .I am positive that the Lord will find a way to multiply their humble offerings given in the most sincere of ways.

So, Aunt Jan, the t-shirt is now in the mail!!!  Prayers are being sent to you through the internet that it will get to you in time to wear next week -- big hopes that your counts will be high enough to endure the chemo.  We prayed over the t-shirt and I wish you could have heard the prayers the children said.  Maybe the Lord will whisper the words in your ear sometime.  Much love to you.

  2. So precious, you have such sweet children. When I hear testimonies like this, it helps me understand what Jesus meant when he was talking of having "faith like a child." They truly mean every prayer out of their heart! I am praying for your Aunt Jan to be healed of cancer in Jesus' awesome name.
