It's Spring!

I took this picture this morning of our tulips out front.  They have been blooming for about 2 weeks now. . .the storms that came through 2 days ago really battered them but they're still holding strong.
The kids are giving them away to everyone they can think of :)  I finally went to the dollar store yesterday to purchase some vases so we have something to put them in instead of papertowel and foil.  We also have a row of them along the driveway. . .we have plenty to give away!
In anticipation of an open house this weekend I noticed (from the above pictures) that we need to mulch!  Then, I took a picture of the house thinking about what else we needed to do to "spring-ify" the house.  Get the porch cushions out.  Maybe some flowers on the table.  Definitely change out the wreath that has been up there since early December!
I made it two years ago and still love that it can take me through February without looking too "Christmas-y".  But it's April, a month later than I should be thinking about changing this out.  I headed to Hobby Lobby to find some inspiration on a new wreath but then ended up just buying one because at half price and no time involved it was worth it.  I took this one down, put the new one up (loved it, BTW), brought the old one inside and did a double-take.
Yep, it looks like I left it up so long that a Mama Bird has called it "home".  So, alas, the new spring/summer wreath came down and this one went back up (I tried to find another place to hang it but was afraid Mama wouldn't be able to find it).  So. . .thinking I may have to make a cute sign or something to put on the wreath Sunday so people don't think I'm completely crazy with my winter wreath still hanging on the door in 70+ degree weather!!!

I've never been this close to a bird's nest or seen eggs up close like this either -- so cool!

  1. We have a bird's nest in our front door wreath too. We had one last Summer too, although I didn't know it until one day I opened the front door and the bird flew INSIDE the house!! Not fun to get a bird out of the house!!!

  2. Wow, your tulips are gorgeous. I need planting lessons from you!!!

No one came to the open house. Which I figured would probably happen. We didn't decide to have one until Friday (early evening), and didn't have time to advertise. But, I've got a spotless house that is organized and clutter free...for at least the next few hours until the kids get home from school! Oh well, I'm not disappointed. God's timing is perfect and I trust Him!

    Thanks for asking!

    Blessings,
    Allyson
